Music on Websites

Posted in Personal on July 14th, 2008

Don’t put music on your websites. If you have a player that is fine. If I want to listen to your music then I would. I don’t. So don’t do it.

Why is this annoying and will get your site closed out faster than it loaded? I’m playing my own music. I wanted to listen to what I was listening to, not what you want me to hear when I land on your page. If the web was meant for people to hear what others wanted them to, it would be a damn radio, not the internet.

Another reason to not do it, is that it makes your pages load slower. Download the song that you are going to make me listen to, and then I have pirated music on my PC. I am sure that you do not have a license to distribute that boy band shit. So don’t do it.

Last, but not least. If you are going to have music on your site. Put a damn stop button on it at the top. Make it clear. So when I load 10 tabs at a time I don’t have to close them all out just so I don’t have to listen to your teen-bop music that sucks.

That is all.

Needed sleep

Posted in Personal on July 11th, 2008

The night before last it was raining again and the millipedes decided to visit again. The wife sprayed the Raid once again attempting to kill them. So I didn’t go to bed until about 4:30. I didn’t want to sleep with Raid again.

Then there was a “leggy bug” as my wife calls them. I missed the kill I think. I couldn’t find the body corpse at any rate. The wife refused to sleep in the bedroom. She really has a fear of them crawling on her in the middle of the night. So we both slept on the couch.

It is crazy that we both fit on the couch with decent comfort. Kevin will tell you that my wife is skinny. She has gotten some meat back on her bones from being in the hospital, but she is still a tiny lady. But it is a couch ok, they are just not made for 2 people to sleep on, and we don’t have one of the laid back couches either.

So after not getting my normal 3 or 4 hours of sleep I only got 2 or less. Last night I was snoozing by midnight. I think that I got too much sleep. For me 3 or 4 hours is about all I need to keep going. Some folks say that is because I’m young. Well I’m not as young as I once was, but I manage.

I’m not much of a morning person either. I wake up cranky at 6:30. My wife puts up with it. She knows when I get my bearings about me from waking up that I will be less cranky. It is just the initial wake up and get out of bed, or lack of wanting to get out of bed. There are the times that I have vivid dreams that being woke up brings those dreams to reality. Then I babel about stupid stuff. Heck, I talk in my sleep, and my wife enjoys carrying on a conversation with my sleep talking self.

How important is your sleep cycle to you? Do you feel well rested after 2 hours? 12 hours? Let me know.

Amie Street Music Wednesday #37

Amie St. Music Wednesday

Childhood dreams and stories. Things that you think about when you were a child, not knowing what were really was out there. Our experiences is what makes us who we are.

Raine Maida song Yellow Brick Road makes you think about those childhood dreams. It then takes you to the trip of adulthood. It is a thought provoking song. I enjoyed finding this gem.

I have really enjoyed other song that Raine Maida sings. I love his style of playing. It is the style that makes you want to hear what he is saying.

Other Sites: MySpace, Band Website

This is what someone had to say on Amie Street:
“A different sounding Raine (kind of Everlast-y? Beck-ish?) but in this case, different = great. Reminds me of a slacker anthem meeting the Firefly theme song, for whatever reason. — argjamesi

Looking for Hosting?

Posted in Personal on July 9th, 2008

From time to time I look into webhosting companies. I do this for several reasons. Today I used a site called Web Hosting Geeks to look for hosting providers for my brother and his company.

This site has reviews about different webhosting companies. It has ranking systems, as well as a Top Blog Hosting category. This could really help some bloggers move from blogspot, and other subdomain hosting site, to a real domain.

I enjoyed looking around the site. It is clean and fast. If you are looking for a site that will help you pick a webhosting company, try out Web Hosting Geeks.
