Entrecard - 300

Technorati Tags: ,

I just got done dropping 300 Entrecards. That took some time. I’m really going to give this Entrecard thing a shot. I have been lingering on it for some time. I figured that I should drop some cards and visit some sites.

I will see what the payoff really is. My hope is that it will increase blog traffic some. I have about 40 minutes before I can attempt to drop another 300 before I go to bed. I’m not sure that I will be able to do that though. It takes me about 30 minutes of steady work and not reading a blog to be able to do it.

I will keep you informed of my findings.

Entrecard is time consuming. I am not sure if it is worth the effort or not. I have three blogs and it is hard to keep up with all the drops. The traffic is mostly click through traffic but once in a while you get someone to read your blog. Last night I ran out of time so I just returned those who dropped on me.

I would be interested in the results if you keep up 300 a day. Good Luck!

Chicken Raiser: I will post my results in about a week if i can keep it up that long. So far I have not seen a great increase in click thoughs from Entrecards site itself. I will get some graphs put up soon. They might get posted on Building Observer and will more than likely cross post it here as well.

Just dropping and walking on to the next drop won’t get a lot of results. The traffic you get will just be other people dropping on you, no one is reading anything. You need to stop and make an impression.

I came because your card was in my inbox. But, knowing you were just dropping - 300 in half an hour- I’m not feeling keen on coming again. I read the blogs I visit. I don’t drop 300 cards and it takes me far longer than 30 minutes to card drop and visit, read, skim and sometimes comment on the blogs I do go to.

Ah, but you see Laura. I just visited your blog from your comment. It did work. How ever your not returning was not my intention. My intention was to see how long it would take to drop the cards and see if it really made a difference at all in traffic. It is an experiment and I’m glad you took part in it.

Even after I drop all the cards though my process, I do click though blogs and read other blogs as well. I spend time commenting on different things. As you can see from my blog there are many different things on this site for people to talk about. Even more so a blog I stumbled on, I even emailed the author of the blog directly and carried on a conversation though email exchanges.

So as you see I’m not just dropping cards. I also spend time reading other blogs just as much as I spend time dropping cards. There are many different types of card droppers out there. I wanted the credits, and I wanted to see if it would make a difference.

The way that you drop cards will get you more return traffic I believe. I have to see if that is true. I’m sorry that you were part of the experiment and you didn’t like it. I really meant no harm to you for just randomly dropping cards.

I go though the comments on my site about once a week and revisit the comments on my site to see what their blogs are doing. So by getting a comment on the site you will have a revisit.

Hey there. Yeah, I’ve been with Entrecard for over a month now and I haven’t gotten close to the 300 mark. Just this week, I punched through the 100 mark. I go to the sites that dropped on my site, and I’ll visit and skim and leave comments where I can. You build a better relationship that way and make goods friends that will glady check yours out for giving the time to theirs.

There are a lot of people who stop at card dropping and then sit back and expect to see their site flooded with hits, readers and comments. I had the impression that was what you were doing.

I also card dropped 300 when I was new to EC. I gave it up. Too much time spent on something that was only generating traffic for my hit counter. Instead I now card drop on those in my inbox on EC. I skim and read and comment on those as the mood/ interest takes me. But, I have a list of favourites which I visit and keep up with, whether they card drop on me or not. Usually they do as over time you get into a group (nothing official) who round robin around. That is what EC did for me. It brought more people into my group and brought myself into groups I had not and would not have found otherwise.

I try to follow all the commenters I get but am not 100% at it. I do my best. Eventually I do get to each of them.

During busy times I’ll just drop on those who drop on me. I do speed read titles and first sentences. If something peaks my interest I’ll stop and read the rest (like this post).

Dropping 300 cards a day is hard and time consuming. There is a “bookmarks files” for Firefox that can be used to make it easier to get that 300 (got a post on my blog about it) but it’s pretty much only good at getting points. If you want to get points and read content and such, you won’t get many points but will find lots of good content and maybe make a few new friends.

I’m starting to figure out that dropping on those who drop on you will usually get them to drop back on you which would create a cycle that if kept up would eventually make it to 300 or more a day. I actually found out about Entrecard from someone who visited my blog and took the time to email me about it. I like Entrecard not because of the points, but because it makes it easier for me to find interesting stuff to read.

Entrecard has impacted my traffic in a huge way. My husband and I both “chain drop” where you click through using the right click funtion of “new tab.” We do read and visit and comment on many wonderful blogs, but some days there is not time, so you have to pick and choose.
