So far every game that I have played sucks compared to EverQuest. The interface, and chat ability, not to mention other things about the game that just made it a great game.

I don't like the WoW interface. I know your argument will be that you can change it. I just don't like it. Enough said about that. I'm not even looking for the best graphics around. Just a good solid engine.

Kevin, I'm not sure how many MMORPGs that you have played to even give a testament that WoW is or is not the greatest MMORPG just because you have to pay for it. Linux is a better OS that Windows, and you don't have to pay for it. So your opinion about paying to play is null.

GuildWars you buy the game and the expansion, but playing the game is free. It is a great game as well. Just because you don't care for it doesn't mean that it is not a great game.

I'm playing MMORPGs that I have never even heard of. I'm looking for a great game, not one with a lot of media, hype, and advertising dollars.

The great games like EQ, you have to pay for. The largest player based MMORPG's are pay for play. WoW being of course the biggest at the moment with over 13 million users.
