Irodology is defined by Wikipedia as: an alternative medicine technique whose proponents believe that patterns, colors, and other characteristics of the iris can be examined to determine information about a patient’s systemic health.

I started looking into this more last night. Why? My wife wanted to take some images of my eye while I was sitting at the computer. I remembered telling Syd about someone I met when I was 18. He was really big into herbal medication, Chinese mushrooms, and Iridology.

I didn’t understand as much back then. Lets say that, I wasn’t worldly. Now I now more and I can see more of what he was trying to tell me. Even though I still don’t listen to him, or to anyone else for that matter very well.

I did want to share this with some of yall out there that might find it interesting. The eye is very interesting. So here are a few images. They are of my eye, my wife’s and my cats.

As you can plainly see, I have stress rings. You will notice the circular cuts in the iris. Now, the wife, she doesn’t have those rings. Someone might say that they are slightly discolored. I don’t know enough about Iridology to say much about it. My cat? Well my cat has no stress and everything in his eyes look great. Yes, it will show in animals as well.

It is something to think about when you are looking at your health. I think that I will start to pay closer attention to my eyes. According to what I have been told and read, the eyes link almost every part of your body to them.

So why aren’t more doctors using this method the help keep people well? Have you, after reading this article, though more about what truths the eye may hold? Let me know your thoughts on such a theory/fact.

I don’t really care. I am sure there is some merit to it like there is to chiropratic care but I don’t care about that either.

I think if you read that wikipedia article, it becomes extremely clear why doctors do not practice iridology. There’s no scientific proof whatsoever that it works, and indeed, it appears through studies done that it definitely is not accurate regarding physical illness. I mean, stress rings or whatever - that’s cool. But I’m not banking on a doctor looking at my eyes to tell me whether or not I’m pregnant, you dig?

I’ll buy into it about as much as I do astrology. Which is to say not at all. But it’s still fun.
