To good to play

Posted in Personal on August 26th, 2008

I was spending some time on digg this morning looking over the ones that people seem to adore or what has been dugg. I came across this story on the opening page [link to digg]. The digg story links back to a Sports Illustrated article [link to SI].

You will want to take the time out to read the story. It is very interesting. You have a mother that is mad because they will not let her son play. You have other parents that will not let their children play with the boy pitching.

This kid can pitch at 40 mph. That is crazy. At 9 years of age, he has pitched 40 mph, and caused a team to forfeit a match when he took the mound. Talk about being feared.

They say that he needs to play with older kids and that he is to good for age group that he is in. That doesn’t mean that he will be able to run with those of a higher age group either. They really should let him pitch.

What are your thoughts on this. Would you let your children play against someone that was well above their skill level? Would you with draw your team from a match because someone has a better pitcher? If you were the parents of this child, would you try to keep him in the same age league, or would you move him up a league if they would take him? let me know your thoughts.

What type of Heart do you have

I thought that this might be fun. Gruntled had it posted up on his, and I thought that I would share mine.

Your result for The Heart Test…

Hero’s Heart

The Hero’s Heart
Independent, Idealistic, Passionate, Indulgent

You are the most gallant of hearts, the Hero’s Heart. You stand tall on your own, and hold high ideals of love and romance, valuing harmony and closeness with a mate, but are passionate and fiery - a true knight in shining armor, looking for your prince/princess and more than willing to beat down the dragon to get them. You may not feel the need to be loved, as you enjoy your heroic quests, but you do hope to someday find your damsel/gentlemen in distress, rescue them, and go riding into a happily ever after.

Matches for the Hero’s Heart:

The Slave to Emotions
The Slave to Emotions is idealistic and values harmony as you do, but is more intimate, something you can greatly understand, and craves love more. Being an idealist, you can appreciate such a person, and being the hero that you are, desire to be the one to break their emotional chains and set them free by making them feel loved, which is what the Slave desires above all other things. You will get great satisfaction from rescuing the Slave from their bindings.

The Lonely Heart
The Lonely Heart needs to be loved, and being a hero, you will be able to see through their harder outward appearance to see the true intimate and caring person inside. Lonely Hearts crave love, and though they are more practical than you are, you will greatly admire their differences and feel a true bond with them.

Your exact opposite is Broken Heart.

Avoid Explicits when possible. You value harmony and closeness, and don’t want that to be disrupted. Also avoid Independents, as you would feel more comfortable being the rescuer, and might not feel a connection with someone who is as self-sufficient as you are.

Where do they get that stuff?

By now most of us have seen trade show exhibits. They come in all forms, even the form of a Flea Market. Have you ever wondered where they get all of flashy stuff from? The custom table covers to the table top displays?

Well wonder no longer. Camelback Displays has the answer that you have been looking for. At Camelback Displays you can get one or more of the following: Director Chairs, Flooring, Table Top Displays, Crowd Control, Graphic Tents, and much, much more.

If you are looking to start a small Flea Market or getting ready for a big trade show like Dragoncon. Then you might just want to stop by Camelback Displays. They have what you need to make your exhibit snazzy.

Had a good weekend

Do you know what cake is? You may not, but I did before this weekend. I mean, I had heard talk of cake just really wasn’t sure what it would taste like. I’m talking about Pineapple Upside down cake. In a shot.

That is right. It is a drink. You shoot it. If you love Pineapple upside down cake you will love this shot. So I thought that I would share it here for other to make.

1 part Vanilla Vodka
2 parts pineapple juice - get the good shit, don’t skimp Dole or somehting
Shake in a mixer and poor though ice
Put a touch of grenadine on top for cherry flavor

There you have it. Pineapple upside down cake in a shot. You will not feel the first few, and they go down really smoothly. You may not get hooked, but you will have a good time at the next party.

This is what I was greeted with when I got to my friends house this weekend. We just hung out and played some games, and just relaxed. Feels like a time warp at times. Which is good because I don’t much have a use for time.

If you try out the drink above, please stop by and let me know how it was.

The Weekend is almost here

And then it will be gone. I know that a lot of people look forward to the weekend. I do for the most part but because of some of the hours I put in during the week, it is reserved for my rest time. I normally sleep in til about noon on Saturday and Sunday. Every now and then I just pass out cold on Saturday night and don’t really wake up until the sun has started going down.

This comes from just being a night person. I really don’t care for much daylight. All though, I do love the sunshine. I know it is strange. I just work better at night and it seems that I’m more productive sitting at home with the lights out and no one bothering me.

The weekend is here though and this weekend I’m headed down to a friends house in Macon. I have not been able to hang out with him much this summer. Gas prices have turned me back into a home body. You have to make sure that you can pay your bills. Fun and games will just have to wait til things get better. Either the economy or more money in the pockets.

I do have the opportunity to go and hang out with friends this weekend. I’m taking that opportunity even though I know that I should pay a little more on my car note or something else. Sometimes you just have to go and have a good time.

The wife? Well she is staying home on this one. I have a trusting relationship with the wife. Even more so we have not what people call open, but it is more of a freedom relationship. We allow each other to follow our own paths or dreams. It is great that we can walk down different roads of life and still love each other with out all of the bitching that could come along with it. The wife is great, she really is.

As for me, well I’m spending the weekend hanging out drinking and playing games for the most part. Hope that you are enjoying your weekend.
