To good to play
Posted in Personal on August 26th, 2008I was spending some time on digg this morning looking over the ones that people seem to adore or what has been dugg. I came across this story on the opening page [link to digg]. The digg story links back to a Sports Illustrated article [link to SI].
You will want to take the time out to read the story. It is very interesting. You have a mother that is mad because they will not let her son play. You have other parents that will not let their children play with the boy pitching.
This kid can pitch at 40 mph. That is crazy. At 9 years of age, he has pitched 40 mph, and caused a team to forfeit a match when he took the mound. Talk about being feared.
They say that he needs to play with older kids and that he is to good for age group that he is in. That doesn’t mean that he will be able to run with those of a higher age group either. They really should let him pitch.
What are your thoughts on this. Would you let your children play against someone that was well above their skill level? Would you with draw your team from a match because someone has a better pitcher? If you were the parents of this child, would you try to keep him in the same age league, or would you move him up a league if they would take him? let me know your thoughts.
