Amie St. Music Wednesday

Childhood dreams and stories. Things that you think about when you were a child, not knowing what were really was out there. Our experiences is what makes us who we are.

Raine Maida song Yellow Brick Road makes you think about those childhood dreams. It then takes you to the trip of adulthood. It is a thought provoking song. I enjoyed finding this gem.

I have really enjoyed other song that Raine Maida sings. I love his style of playing. It is the style that makes you want to hear what he is saying.

This is what someone had to say on Amie Street:
“A different sounding Raine (kind of Everlast-y? Beck-ish?) but in this case, different = great. Reminds me of a slacker anthem meeting the Firefly theme song, for whatever reason. — argjamesi

Looking for Hosting?

Posted in Personal on July 9th, 2008

From time to time I look into webhosting companies. I do this for several reasons. Today I used a site called Web Hosting Geeks to look for hosting providers for my brother and his company.

This site has reviews about different webhosting companies. It has ranking systems, as well as a Top Blog Hosting category. This could really help some bloggers move from blogspot, and other subdomain hosting site, to a real domain.

I enjoyed looking around the site. It is clean and fast. If you are looking for a site that will help you pick a webhosting company, try out Web Hosting Geeks.

Seat Belts

Posted in Personal on July 9th, 2008

Over the years I have just gotten used to wearing a seat belt. Mainly because the wife reminds me every time that I’m not buckled up that I should. She says, “Buckle up for safety”. For the longest time I argued with her about it and finally felt it was a battle that I was just not going to win with her.

I don’t think that it would be a battle I would win in court either. It really begs the question though.

Should seat belts really be a law?

I was driving down the road this morning and forgot to put on my seat belt after I left the gas station. I almost passed a state trooper, then the may have noticed that I wasn’t wearing a seat belt. You know, you do the check the a cop is around to make sure that you are doing everything that you know is correct so that you do not get pulled over.

I noticed that I wasn’t wearing my seat belt, and then he gets behind me. That made me even more nervous. I went really slowly and put my seat belt on. The state trooper then removed himself from behind me and went on speeding down the road.

I have always stated that natural selection will takes its course. Not wearing a seat belt is asking for trouble in Atlanta. There are just way to many stupid drivers. For those that are not wearing them and die, it is there fault.

There shouldn’t be a law where you take away a persons free will. What I mean by this is, it should be someone right if they wish to buckle up or not. The only life that is at risk is the person that is not buckled up.

People will say, well what about drunk drivers? Should they have the right to get behind the wheel and drive? Well you see they do have the right. Just like, you have the right, or the choice to not buckle up. The problem is that being drunk you could put someone else’s life at risk, not just yours. With a seat belt, you are only putting your life at risk.

So, we have the choice to drive drunk. We also have the choice to wear a seat belt. If you drive drunk, you will get a ticket, and have your license to drive revoked unless you have enough money. If you do not have a seat belt on then you get fined.

You can’t put your life in danger, and you can’t put someone else life in danger. I agree with not allowing someone to put someone else in harms way, when it is not the other persons choice to be put in harms way. but being fined because you put your own self in harms way is just stupid to me.

What are your thoughts on the seat belt laws? Do you think that we should have them or not?
