So what about this $600

Posted in Personal on April 9th, 2008

I don’t know where the government gets off giving me back my taxes. I bitch about having to pay them and then they give me extra money back? That is strange.

We are in the middle of a war. A war that a lot of people would like that have stopped, it is unknown if this will happen with the next political election. The funding for the war has pushed the U.S. in to heavy debt. Not only can the people in the U.S. not pay its debts, but the country can’t even pay its debts.

Now, this $600. Where is it coming from. Banks in the U.S. are going bankrupt, the value of the dollar is at about 70%, maybe, and Bush is spending and spending. I just want to know, what government owns the freest nation in the world?

Will I be happy to get the $600? I sure will be. I would rather them keep their money though. I don’t see any reason if you are going to steel from people to give it back from them. I mean, what the hell did you take it for in the first place. As it sits right now, the $600 is about 5% or less what I paid in taxes last year. That is just what I paid out of my federal. I have state and all of the other SS and medicare still coming out of my check. We all know that SS is worthless, so it is free money to the government.

If I really didn’t want to spend the money to help pay off some credit cards I would send it back. I’m sure that I would have to fight my wife for sending it back as well. I must say that we don’t need it to get our debt down. It will help some, but not that much. It will not stimulate our spending habbits at all. I’m not going out and buying a $50/person dinner anytime soon, even if the government wants to give me $600.

This would be my letter:

Dear U.S. Government:

Please keep your damn money. You will not be able to buy me for $600. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever. If you really feel that $600 is going to change much in our economy then you are sadly mistaken.

I don’t know here a bunch of lying lawyers get off thinking that they know so much about marketing and how to build wealth. You surely are not taking advice form Sun Microsystems, or Microsoft.

So who is really telling you that cutting the taxes on the wealth, and making them richer, will help out anyone. I have personally been given 2% or 3% raises over the past few year. Inflation on what i have to spend money on has gone up about 3% to 5% or more each of those years. I now make less money than when I started working at my current job because inflation. Also, when I first started, I made less than I did at the job I had 1 year prior.

So as you can see, I’m a broke ass, hard working, tax paying, U.S. citizen so that you can fly around in your jets, and go on month long vacations.

KEEP YOUR FUCKING $600, I DON’T NEED IT! YOU WILL COUNT IT AS INCOME NEXT YEAR TAX TIME AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY TAXES ON IT AS WELL. SO GO FUCK YOUR SELF!

Truly your,

Mark Pipkin

Amie Street Music Wednesday #29

Amie St. Music Wednesday

If you have listened to any of my past ASMW post then you are sure to know that I love a good Celtic type song. There really is nothing like the music from the old country. The way that the songs were written, they way that the instruments were played. It just made things sound peaceful at times and told a story. It will really take you away and before you know it you have been listening for hours and hours and you just feel at peace with your self, even if you have been very busy.

Kim Thompsett is one such artist who’s voice will ease your soul. Calming down the spirits with in is great way to relax even when you are in the mist of a storm.

If you do not listen to Celtic music, you really should, I HIGHLY recommend it. Songs like “Hallowed Ground” by Kim Thompsett are great to start with. The entire album is great.

WP 2.5 Update

Posted in Personal on April 9th, 2008

The 2.5 update from WP went great. I’m getting better and better at getting upgrades for WP done.

The easiest way to upgrade your blog if you are running WP on a Linux server, is to follow these simple steps:

1) Download the latest WP.
2) Expand the tar.gz - tar -vxzf latest*.tar.gz
3) You will then want to remove the wp-content folder from the expanded tar file - rm -rf wordpress/wp-content
4) Now you will need to copy everything to your blog directory - cp -R wordpress/* folder/with/blog/
5) Just run the domain.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php file and you are set.

It is always a good idea to make a backup of your site and the database. I do this sometimes, but not always. It is a good habit to get into though. Happy blogging.
