Amie Street Music Wednesday #22
Posted in Amie Street Music Wednesday on February 20th, 2008I know that it has only been about 6 weeks, well maybe a little more but who is counting, sense I posted about Marina V. Well I’m back to post about her again. I checked up on some of the artist that I bought music from and she has released a new album. So today we have going to feature a song from her new album.
I’m listening though it while writing this and I’m having trouble deciding on what should I should pick. Her voice is amazing. As some of you know, my grandmother passed away recently, so to day in honor of her, just like Marina V is honoring hers, here is the song ??????? or GRANDMOTHER.
Of course my grandmother didn’t braid my hair. She was there for me a lot. She was a strong woman, a rock, and a corner stone of our family. She was the sweetest person anyone could ever meet. She would even bake me biscuits at 5am. What an inspiration.
If you enjoy this music please contribute to the artist. I use Amie Street because they allow me to port my music to different devices. In fact I don’t buy music unless it is though Amie Street now. So enjoy and let the artist know that you enjoy their work and contributions.
loosely translated from Marina V’s site
Grandmother, grandmother
I wonder where you are these days
Are you looking down at me from the sky?
My dear grandmother,
give me some of your strength & wisdom in my darkest hour
Braid my hair like you used to
Calm me down with your voice, and make everything alright again
Grandmother, grandmother
I wonder where you are these days
Are you looking down at me from the sky?
My dear grandmother,
share your strength & wisdom with your granddaughter in her darkest hour
Sit me down on your lap like you used to
And calm me down with your singing, and make everything alright again
And if heaven exists, would you please smile at me from up there,
And carry me away to a place where life is always at dawn
Where we are never apart
Please take me there,
even for just one moment.
