Emma: My problem with iTunes and other things like Zune is they lock you in. That is part of my problem with iPods and devices like them. Saying that gtkpod and other programs in Ubuntu that are made for Gnome 2.x.x have made it easy. I just drag and drop them in the program. i also got a program that would convert from ogg, file type i was using, to mp3. this all did things in mass mode.

All in all it took me about 2 hours to get it working on Ubuntu and it is slick now, and it took me about 2 hours to convert all my music from ogg to mp3, and 20 min to put them on the iPod.

All in all it was not painful, but it cost if you want to be free from the DRM and RIAA. Yes, RIAA all my songs are album rips that i own or they are from Amie Street.

Wow, I didn't know you were using Ubuntu. The thing that makes iPod's easy to use is iTunes. Maybe you can get it to work with wine. I know that's something I'm fond of.

Thanks, for the post. Your entry was fine. At least you were one of my readers who had commented in the past. I'm glad you like the iPod and that you received it before you moved. Take Care, Emma
