Comcast Tech Support

I love the speed of Comcast cable internet. What is really getting to me is their support. I work in IT and I truly understand what they go though. What I don’t understand though is the fact that they seem to be stupid when I call them up and tell them that they have a problem. I don’t like calling tech support for this reason.

Currently I have a problem with their DHCP server. When I tell them that the problem is on their end they would like me to reboot my modem, restart my computers and other things. If I have an IP address and I release and renew that IP and do not get one back right away, that tells me that the server is either slow or full.

The main reason that this bothers me is that when I turn on my Xbox 360 I need to get an IP for play online. I have to wait sometime 30 minutes before I can get an IP for the Xbox. I don’t know why this is, it just is. Maybe I will get a call back today from their support staff and they will tell me that they have resolved the issue that they have been having. Who knows though.

Does anyone else have these issues with Comcast?

Lauren and I don’t have any problems. Then again we use a router, where you use a swtich and pay for more then one IP address.

You would think that they would be happy with people like me pointing out what is wrong with their system. I did all of the trouble shooting work and I get hung up on twice for it.

I think you need to calmly call back and speak to a manager then. Tell them all that you have done in testing the problem, explain in detail what problem your having, calmly. Then inform him calmly how upset you are with the service you have ben givin. Do all this calmly and I bet it gets fixed really fast, or atleast they will try. I can hear you right now getting pissed at the level one techs that pretty much only know how to tell you to “reset your modem, restart your computor”.
