Visit with Grandma Part #2

Posted in Personal on November 26th, 2007

Visiting grandma in the nursing home was hard. She had some smiles and chuckles the first day I was there. She slept most of the time for the other visits.

It is really hard to think that such a great woman is going to be leaving this world soon. At 91 years of age, 9 years just shy of a century old. She was born during WWI. She lived though “The great depression”, WWII, Vietnam. and other wars. She held witness to the dawn of the Techo-age. She also laid her eyes on an original Model-T when they were being produced. She lived though the late 10’s, 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and early 2000’s.

Grandma, live though all of humans hate and pain for 90 years and was still a very sweet woman. She was stern when she had to be but other wise was a kind soul.

I talk as if she is gone, but she is still very much with me. As of writing this article she has not been laid to rest. I do not fel her time with is if very long. May the powers that rule over the heavens and earth protect her in the rest of this life’s journey and beyond.

Visit With Grandma

Well, after the drive down to Valdosta today, I got to spend a little bit of time with my grandma. She is laying in a nursing home, and can barely speak. You have to lean in close and can hardly understand her even then. It is sad to see her in the shape that she is in. She did say some things that she thought were funny. Even though I didn’t understand them, I still gave a little chuckle. People she sometimes that those with strokes don’t really know people and in her shape she may not. If there is one thing that I know, it is that she is a tough old bird. I I don’t think that I want to believe that she knows what she is talking about, I know that she knows what she is talking about.

She has always had a strong mind, even though she sometimes wonders from the conversation. I have heard stories about grandma that I would have never heard otherwise if She didn’t wonder from the conversation. She told us one time that all 8 of her children were born out of the hospital and at her house. This is unheard of today.

If someone would like to send her flowers, please send them to:

Heritage House Nursing Home
2501 N Ashley St
Valdosta, GA 31602

She is in room 118. Her name is Margaret Talbott. If you want to, please put who it is from and also mention my name or Pipkin’s. I would like to send thank you cards back out if anyone sends her flowers. Thank you all for your preyers, energy, and lighted candles.

Amie Street Wednesday #12

The New Duncan Imperials are a wacky bunch of guys. I really have to give credit to them for coming up with some very original ideas. They really remind me of The Presidents of the United States of America band from the 90’s. Great sound and it is so good to hear this type of punk music again.

Turkey Neck is for tomorrow. The song is for today and tomorrow and the next. It is just a fun song. I don’t know what else could be said other than Happy Turkey day, or Turkey Neck Day.

Just a bad Morning

Posted in Personal on November 20th, 2007

Well I’m taking some of my lunch break to make a post about a bad morning. My mom called me to let me know that my grandmother, mom’s side, has about 24 hours left on this earth according to the doctors. This is very saddening because this is a woman that has spent her whole life being kind to people. I know that people have skeletons in closets, and I’m sure she may have some, but she used to cook biscuits for the firehouse. I remember calling her up around 5 in the morning, when I had been out all night with friends, and asking her if she minded feeding us. She never had a problem fixing up some biscuits and sausage. Oh, how I will miss my grandmother.

This brings back the memory, something that I never got around to blogging bout, of my grandfather dieing earlier this year, on my dad’s side. He know for about 4 or 5 months that he was going. Cancer was taking him by storm, and spreading like wildfire though his body. He as also a great man, what I remember of him. It is really hard to believe that he is no longer physically on this earth.

They will both live with me and our families.

My wife is also giving away our dog today. I’m very sad to see her go as well. I think that we just about made it though the puppy stage, and we are giving her up. She is going to a good home I think that. They have a 12 year old boy that will have as much energy as she does. She really was a great dog with a wonderful personality. I will miss you as well Poe.

So it has been a very sad day all around for me. I just needed a place to let some of it go and it happens to be to the world. Go figure.
