Why Google Why?!

Posted in Personal on November 26th, 2007

Much debate has been buzzing around the internet about Google’s PR. There are those that live for great PR and those that really don’t care because they have tons of traffic already. What a PR means for most people that blog is that PayPerPost and Blogsvertise, and other such paid to post ad agencies are based on this PR.

Google’s PR and Alexa Rank have tons to do with how much you will get paid for a post and the number of opportunities that you get as well. When Google decides that your PR needs to be dropped because of the number of links that you have been paid for it hurts. Why does this hurt, because you can’t get paid as much any more.

What is the problem with deleting the old ads? In the case of Blogsvertise, you are not allowed to do so. For the rest of the life of your blog you much advertise for these companies that paid you $5.00. I don’t know anyone that is getting a good end of the stick with that one. It doesn’t sound like much, but if a company today can pay $5.00 for a life time of advertising then they will need to fork over more than that.

I’m getting ready to write Blogsvertise and ask them what benefit of it is mine to have my PR go down when I have to advertise for the rest of my bogs life. This could be years, even decades. I do think that if this was a re-occurring revenue then I would be more quiet about it. Being bought for $5.00 is a bit low for a life time of advertising.

My suggestion to you is to really think about what you are doing and the way that you are advertising. Google will get you for paid advertising, they will lower your PR, if not even drop you out of the running for linking to a site that is known for buying links though bloggers. I think that I’m more than likely going to stop advertising after one month. This will keep the paid advertising down and it will give them what they pay for, and that to me is 30 days of their post being on my site. If they would like to have their post moved to the front of the page or left on my blog then they should pay a monthly fee.

Visit with Grandma Part #2

Posted in Personal on November 26th, 2007

Visiting grandma in the nursing home was hard. She had some smiles and chuckles the first day I was there. She slept most of the time for the other visits.

It is really hard to think that such a great woman is going to be leaving this world soon. At 91 years of age, 9 years just shy of a century old. She was born during WWI. She lived though “The great depression”, WWII, Vietnam. and other wars. She held witness to the dawn of the Techo-age. She also laid her eyes on an original Model-T when they were being produced. She lived though the late 10’s, 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and early 2000’s.

Grandma, live though all of humans hate and pain for 90 years and was still a very sweet woman. She was stern when she had to be but other wise was a kind soul.

I talk as if she is gone, but she is still very much with me. As of writing this article she has not been laid to rest. I do not fel her time with is if very long. May the powers that rule over the heavens and earth protect her in the rest of this life’s journey and beyond.
