Rainy day Sunday
Posted in Personal on August 26th, 2007You know I’m glad that I have started writing on Mouseclone again. I have missed writing on it so much and it is more personal to me. 19incheswide is a great site as well, but it is more about work and how I have done things than really about me. Although, work is an extension of oneself, and that should also be taken into account of who we all are.
I was looking though some of the links in my blogroll and noticed “The Simple Dollar“. Wow, this site is reminding me of some changes that me and my wife have been going though lately. Other than yesterday, I have not gone anywhere this weekend. I have saved the gas for work and no play. This doesn’t mean that I’m not playing. I have the computer, XBox, GameCube and other things. Not only that, but I have spent some time with the dog, more so than usual, and I have managed to just waist time doing nothing, that is not something that I normally do.
Then again when going over the bills it is really hard to take my spending habits. $120+ in crap every week. That is going to the store in the morning for a Redbull and other things. Going to the store in the afternoon for another drink and a snack if I’m hungry, and lunch 5 days a week at $10 a pop. That is a lot of bad spending habits. This past week? Well lets just say it was around $10 for the whole week. Yep, I said it, I made it on $10 for the week and that is just because I woke up late on Friday and forgot my lunch.
I was also spending about $80 to $100 in gas each week. I almost made it til Friday with out filling up. My car takes $45 to fill up. Doing that 2 times a week really adds up. I get about 24 mph on the interstate and about 17 mph on the surface streets. Why such a difference in gas millage? Well my car is almost 24 years old, it is a rotory motor, and it has well over 140k miles on it. I drive about 40 miles one way to work and I live in Atlanta. Those that live around here know that sitting in traffic does nothing for your gas millage.
My wife and I are looking for something closer to where I work. This would save us money on the gas that I spend as well. Why are we doing all of this? We want a house, plan and simple. In the long run it will help up to develop good spending habits as well.
Well I’m in need of getting some more work done. I almost feel like I’m working two jobs.
