One Year!!

Posted in Personal on April 26th, 2007

Well it has been a year sense my first post. I have go posted about this and about that. I have tried to get people to comment on thing. Alas, I have failed. /shrug…

Maybe this next year I will get something going and find a nitch that people enjoy talking about. Until that time oh well, I will just have to keep writing about the boring stuff.

I really would like to get my image comments rolling though. I feel that they can be quite funny. We will have to see as no one really post on those either.

Some good news though is that with in the past year i have gotten married and bought a dog that is nuts. We, my wife and I, are looking to buy a house soon. I am hoping that we can get into one before our lease is up.

Not really any big news other than the above. take care and /wave bye-bye.

Save Internet Radio

Posted in Uncategorized on April 17th, 2007

I received an email from Pandora.  Here it is as follows:

Hi, it’s Tim from Pandora,

I’m writing today to ask for your help.  The survival of Pandora and all of Internet radio is in jeopardy because of a recent decision by the Copyright Royalty Board in Washington, DC to almost triple the licensing fees for Internet radio sites like Pandora.  The new royalty rates are irrationally high, more than four times what satellite radio pays and broadcast radio doesn’t pay these at all.  Left unchanged, these new royalties will kill every Internet radio site, including Pandora.

In response to these new and unfair fees, we have formed the SaveNetRadio Coalition, a group that includes listeners, artists, labels and webcasters.  I hope that you will consider joining us.

Please sign our petition urging your Congressional representative to act to save Internet radio: http://capwiz.com/saveinternetradio/issues/alert/?alertid=9631541

Please feel free to forward this link/email to your friends - the more petitioners we can get, the better.

Understand that we are fully supportive of paying royalties to the artists whose music we play, and have done so since our inception.  As a former touring musician myself, I’m no stranger to the challenges facing working musicians.  The issue we have with the recent ruling is that it puts the cost of streaming far out of the range of ANY webcaster’s business potential.

I hope you’ll take just a few minutes to sign our petition - it WILL make a difference. As a young industry, we do not have the lobbying power of the RIAA. You, our listeners, are by far our biggest and most influential allies.

As always, and now more than ever, thank you for your support.

I hope that people will follow the link and save internet radio.

Freedom?

Posted in Personal on April 6th, 2007

What is freedom?

You can look at freedom several different ways. The United States defines it as the ability to to have free enterprise, free speech, and free press. All of the freedoms that they use to control the people of the United States.

Some one may define it as a dictatorship. They are free to live, and they feel that they are protected by the government from people publishing things about them, their company, or anything else that may arise.

With any freedom there comes a price. WAR! That is the price that will always be paid for any freedom.

The Wiccen Reed is something like this: An ye harm none; do what ye will. That is just part of it though. Just take that part and live by it and you will go far in my opinion. It is like the golden rule, but it just includes yourself as well. If people follow this simple rule then a lot of fighting and killing would stop, you would be free.

You must give back what you take, and only take your share. Then you owe nothing to anyone, and no one is in debt to you. I personally live by this rule, as much as I can.

There does come a time when you give so much and you just feel like you are getting nothing in return. I am at that point now. I feel like I have given so much to the company that I currently work for that I’m getting angry, and frustrated over it. This will lead me to change jobs. I can’t work in an environment where I do not feel like I’m getting my rewards.

Companies today take there employees for granted. The workers are the most over worked people on the face of the earth. We as a whole will burn out. We are so doped up on drugs that the government has to false advertise about the “War on Drugs”. A war that they will never win. Why? This is because of the approval rate at which drugs are produced. The government and doctors get kick backs from the drug companies to push drugs on people. You feel depressed, here take this little pill, but wait, this pill could cause head ache, sickness, anal seepage, erectile disfunction, and in rare cases death. It is FDA approved though so it has to be safe. I would rather take my chances with pot. It is not FDA approved though. The government doesn’t make any money from it and the drug companies and doctors are not making any money either.

So after all of that what is the cost of freedom? That depends on what you consider free. We are locked into a world where all men are controled by time. They have tried to beat time and they spend millions monthly trying to turn the clock back. You have to be here and be there on time, so that you can do something before you are rushed off to the next place. In fact I need to wrap this post up so that I will have some time to do something else.

I will leave you with this final thought. If freedom cost so much then we should call it entrapment - Life.
