Wordpress and IE

Posted in Personal on July 28th, 2006

i need to do some tunning on the site. I don’t knwo when it will get done but for those that don’t use IE, I’m sorry. IE doesn’t seem to play very well with either my WordPress template or WordPress itself. I erge everyone to use a more standard browser. MSIE for a long time has thought it was the big dog, it mainly is because people use what is on there computers. Everyone take a time out and think for just a little bit. Explore what is out there.

If you only bought Civics all your life, then you would never know what a Neon or some over com-pac car feels like. Test drive Netscape (they have come a long way), Opera, Firefox, Mozilla(other internet software), and may other browsers out that that stay with a standard.

There are somethings in IE you get. Colored scroll bars. Frontpage extentions, and stuff like that. If you run Firefox, I know there is a plug-in that will allow you to switch between Firefox and IE rendering engines. It is a great thing for developers and the like. I have alink to Firefox on the left bar.

Why do I push this so? Because we all need standards in a world of propritary crap. If you like being force fed, keep using IE and never make a choice for yourself.

Sorry

Posted in Vlog, Website Updates on July 23rd, 2006

I’m sorry for the lack of post lately. I have been very wrapped up in Ubuntu and learning a new OS. This thing is great. I’m going to have to post some HOWTOs or what ever for things that were hard for me to find. If only for my refferance. I get a good number of visitors and very few comments. But that is all good.

As for the video blog i will be working on getting an editor for linux soon and get some new videos up. Please feel free to drop me a comment about anything you wish.

Learning something new part #2

Posted in Uncategorized on July 8th, 2006

I have converted to Linux on my home computer. My video blog will have to be post poned until I find software that will allow me to edit video on Linux. Why the change? Well it is about time that i learned something new and to force myself to do it i’m not going to change back. I have seen Vista Beta and I’m not impressed.

I started out on DOS, the Windows 3.1 and 3.11 for Workgroups. Moved on to Macs from there for a while because that was what they placed in schools. First network was done on Power Mac Clones in the 10th grade of High School. Then went to MS Windows from there because that is what “most” people that I ran into ran. Linux was hard for me because MS was easy so to speak. I’m sure the 10+ years of dealing with them made it that way. An OS is an OS right? Just have to learn it.

I chose Ubuntu Desktop Dapper Drake build. I like the Gnome interface over the KDE that is in Kubuntu. I have also ran KDE on Slackware and other Linux builds like SuSe before Novell bought them out. From what I have read Novell has done a great job at developing it.

As far as Ubuntu goes though, it is built off of Debian, or something like that. I have seen no issues with the OS, just my lack of knowledge. DONT do a ‘dd’ command in linux you will lose all of your data. I know did that tonight. Well that is it for now. I’m going to finish setting up this install and let it be. I have to get the dual monitors working and getting the wine type shell from TransGaming installed and some of my Windows based games.

All in all I think that I will enjoy this a whole lot.

sometimes…

Posted in Personal on July 3rd, 2006

I have not posted in a while.  I have been trying to learn Linux.  While I have discovered that I do enjoy it I don’t know.  I stay so confused all of the time.  Life grabs by the nuts and just drags you around.  I watched a squirl the other day outside while i was smoking.  It was just so peaceful.  Life is busy even outside of work.  You just wish you could slow eveything down to a medium pace.  I do how ever enjoy driving fast.  I would like to recomend a site/vlog if you are not aware of it yet.  Bicycle-Sidewalk Nathan’s site is simple.  You can learn a lot about Japan and some of the awsome beauty that it has.  I keep saying that I want this site to be great like that.  I don’t know where to start though.  I don’t have time.

I bought a SOE(Sony online Entertainment) game card so that I could play EQ some more but I don’t really care to play.  It just doesn’t give me joy anymore.  Hell most games that I play don’t give me joy, I just play them because I feel I don’t have anything else to do.

I am getting married in a few more months.  Syd is about the only joy that I have right now.  I work from 730 to 530 + time spent on the phone at night and on weekends.  I don’t feel like going anywhere when I get home.  I’m so drained from the day.  I expect to much out of people is my real problem, and I give so much of myself because of that.  I don’t like letting down people.

I love my Sydney.  She is great.  Sometimes I think that she is a 12 year old trapped in a 20 year old body.  She like to jump on the bed.  Be loud, at times, always cheerful though.  She enjoys wiggling.  She beleives that Jell-O should have picked her for their comercials.  Syd has B I G HUGE eyes.  Gourgus … simply put.  I love her and I’m glad she said yes.

I’m sure there is more to right.  Right now I should be in bed because she is not here and I need to get myself up in the morning and go to work.  I think that I am going to regret buying that gamer card.  I just don’t think that I should be playing.
